This is a documentation comparison, not a head-to-head latency or completeness benchmark. Prices are USD monthly and can change. Neither provider is represented as affiliated with the other or with PrizePicks.

Choose for your workflow

Evaluate ParlayAPI when

  • Your app needs several sportsbooks, DFS platforms or exchange markets.
  • You need a customer WebSocket interface.
  • You are comparing the lower listed monthly entry prices, after checking the rights and data scope you need.

Evaluate prizepicksapi.com when

  • Your primary workflow starts with PrizePicks projections and follows their recorded changes.
  • You need per-selection tiers, explicitly unknown availability and original observation times.
  • You want to connect lines to available grades and game logs, with coverage reported in the response.

Check outcomes separately from offered lines

On this API, /results returns closing-line outcomes and reasons where grading is available. Read meta.leagues_graded, meta.periods_graded and meta.stats_graded; projection coverage is not the same as grading coverage. /game-logs has its own loaded-season coverage. A game result by itself does not establish what PrizePicks offered before the game.

For either provider, request the exact league, period and date you need. Check original capture timestamps and distinguish recorded observations, closing lines, later results and any imported history. A larger plan cannot create unrecorded data.

Run a small board and comparison test

Start with the current board, then enrich it with available prices. These two endpoints accept NBA, NFL and NHL together. A priced comparison subset is not the whole board, and a page is not guaranteed to contain every requested league.

Bounded REST requests
GET /api/v1/projections?league=NBA,NFL,NHL&view=compact&limit=100
GET /api/v1/compare?league=NBA,NFL,NHL&view=compact&priced_only=true&alt_lines=false&limit=100
Authorization: Bearer $PRIZEPICKS_API_KEY
X-User-Request: Build a player props comparison dashboard

Use the credential on your backend. The task summary should contain no secrets or private chat; summaries are retained for 35 days. Keep filters unchanged while following cursors, and check observed timestamps and source health. The two requests are separate observations.

Match the contract to your product

ParlayAPI lists limited internal use for self-serve plans; customer-facing distribution and other commercial rights require a separate agreement. Read its current terms. Do not assume either API subscription grants upstream data ownership, unrestricted redistribution or an enterprise SLA. Confirm the intended use and any contractual commitments before relying on them.

Common comparison questions

Which API should I use for a PrizePicks dashboard?

Test the fields your dashboard needs. prizepicksapi.com provides a focused PrizePicks board and recorded-line workflow. For wider sportsbook coverage, evaluate ParlayAPI against your required books and markets. Compare a real player, period, line, side and observation time before choosing.

Are credits equivalent between these APIs?

No. On new prizepicksapi.com plans, a successful compact projections page requesting up to 100 rows costs 1 credit; a comparison page of that size costs 5. Other providers define their own units. Estimate the actual endpoints, filters, pages and refresh schedule rather than comparing allowance numbers alone.

Can I backtest years of PrizePicks lines here?

Not from our own recorded history. Partial NBA observations begin on 27 October 2026, with broader collection from 28 October. Older game logs describe outcomes, not historical PrizePicks offers. Check the coverage calendar and any separately identified imported dataset before planning a backtest.

How do I test the comparison workflow?

Create a free key, run the bounded NBA/NFL/NHL example, and check returned rows and timestamps. Preserve unpriced projections when building a complete board. Inspect matching period, line and side before treating a sportsbook quote as comparable.
